The ensemble consists of Tokyo-based piano virtuoso Tadataka Unno and longtime trio member, bassist Jon Hamer. In addition to his hundreds of recordings, this is Hamilton’s 24th album as a bandleader. The LA-based musician is one of the living legends of jazz drumming. Jeff and the trio have composed new pieces and covered some classical compositions for “A NEW CHAPTER.” As the project title suggests, new member Tadataka Unno completes the current lineup and thus makes a significant contribution to the future of this renowned group of artists. “A NEW CHAPTER” is an energetic collection of classically inspired piano trio performances, all recorded live in Memphis, Tennessee. “This recording captures the swinging energy of the trio and a new dimension of freedom within the ensemble,” comments Hamilton.
